Training

One characteristic of successful Scouting units is trained leaders. The Boy Scouts of America develops training programs for all aspects of Scouting. The BSA and its local councils, districts, and units provide leader training opportunities in various forms: online, in the classroom, and in the field. Every Scout deserves a trained leader.

If you'd like to get started with training, visit http://myscouting.org. From there, take This is Scouting, the Fast Start training for your position, and Youth Protection Training. Lastly, attend a district training class for your position. Check the district calendar, http://mountain.scoutdistrict.org, or the council calendar, http://cherokeeareabsa.org for other training opportunities. Once you've completed these courses, you can wear the Trained patch on your uniform.
